Targets for Renewable Electricity

A primary component of a renewable electricity standard is the target, which is simply the specified amount of renewable energy use that must be achieved by a certain date. For the most part states have established their targets as a percentage of electricity sales. However, targets can also be based on the total amount of renewable energy capacity that must be developed.
