Pharma Crops Presentation
Crops that have been genetically engineered to produce drugs and industrial chemicals (pharma crops) are not meant to be eaten by the general public, yet they are grown outdoors in corn, soybeans, and other staples of our food supply. This practice puts our food supply at risk and virtually guarantees that contamination will occur.
We need your help to convince government regulators to ban the outdoor production of pharma crops in crops that are primarily grown for human food and animal feed. Now is the time to weigh in, as the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) considers an overhaul of its existing regulations.
To learn the basics of pharma crops, listen to UCS analyst Karen Perry Stillerman deliver a slideshow presentation.
- Download the presentation and share it with groups you belong to—such as civic organizations or state and local agricultural, environmental, or consumer groups.
- Download a sample script to use for this presentation.
Then, send your own letter to USDA here.
Please email jpalembas@ucsusa.org if you have any questions about this presentation. We hope it is useful for you as you spread the word about this risky practice, and the steps we can take today to Protect Our Food.
