American Grassfed Association A source of information on grass-fed meat for consumers and associated industries. Works toward the establishment of a legal definition for grassfed and implementation of a labeling program through the USDA.
Bio-Integral Resource Center Offers expertise in least-toxic, sustainable, and environmentally sound Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods. Assists homeowners, farmers, cities, park and water districts, schools, and pest control professionals in pesticide use reduction. Based in Berkeley, California.

Michael Fields Agricultural Institute A nonprofit that seeks to revitalize farming through research, education, technical assistance, and public policy. Programs include an organic training farm, work to reform government policies, research to improve crop health, an outdoor classroom that demonstrates sustainable farming techniques, and a food system initiative that connects farmers, chefs, and consumers.
Michigan Land Use Institute Works to help Michigan avoid damaging patterns of suburban sprawl and over-development, by focusing on land use solutions that conserve the environment and protect community interests.
Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES) An educational outreach organization helping farmers transition to organic production. Projects include the Upper Midwest Organic Farming Conference and the Organic University, held each February in La Crosse, WI; The Organic Broadcaster, a bi-monthly newspaper; and The Upper Midwest Organic Resource Directory. National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture Dedicated to educating the public on the importance of a sustainable food and agriculture system that is economically viable, environmentally sound, socially just, and humane.
National Catholic Rural Life Conference An organization grounded in a spiritual tradition that works on conservation, confined animal feeding operations, farm workers, food safety, animal welfare, and renewable energy (among other environmental and social issues).
National Center for Appropriate Technology Serves economically disadvantaged people by providing information and access to appropriate technologies that can help improve their lives. NCAT promotes sustainable agricultural practices and the development of sustainable communities, and supports the use of sustainable and renewable energy.

National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service (ATTRA) A sustainable farming information center operated by the National Center for Appropriate Technology. Provides technical assistance to farmers, extension agents, market gardeners, and other agricultural professionals. Promotes sustainable farming production practices, alternative crop and livestock enterprises, and innovative marketing strategies.
U.S. Department of Agriculture—Alternative Farming Systems Information Center One of several information centers at the USDA National Agricultural Library. Specializes in locating and accessing information related to nonconventional cropping systems including sustainable, organic, low-input, biodynamic, and regenerative agriculture. Includes a searchable database of community supported agriculture farms. |
