U.S. Scientists and Economists' Call for Swift and Deep Cuts in Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Thank for your interest in the U.S. Scientists and Economists' Call for Swift and Deep Cuts in Greenhouse Gas Emissions. The statement is open to
Ph.D. or doctoral candidate professionals with expertise relevant to our understanding of the scientific and economic dimensions of climate change, its impacts and solutions.
The letter is a call to our nation's leaders at all levels of government. Because it is policy relevant but not policy prescriptive, the letter builds a strong foundation for sound climate policymaking. In early June the letter, with the full complement of signatures, was delivered to every member of Congress as both Houses debated climate legislation. Subsequently, the letter has been personally delivered to state legislators considering climate policies and entered into the record of the proceedings of the Midwest Governors Association Greenhouse Gas Accord. In addition, the letter has been distributed to the media as an indirect yet vital way to reach decisionmakers.
Signatures currently being received will be included in future activities or deliveries and on the website. If you would like to add your name for consideration as a letter signer, fill out the form below. We will let you know if any additional steps are required on your part.
