North Korean Missile Tests 7/7/2006

On July 5, David Wright, co-director of the Global Security program at the Union of Concerned Scientists, released a statement on the recent launch by North Korea of a long-range missile.

In the statement, Dr. Wright describes how the failed test creates a new opportunity for the Bush administration to develop an effective strategy to address concerns about North Korean missiles. That strategy would center on a focused diplomatic effort by the administration.

For additional background on the troubled country's missile program, see Assessment of the North Korean Missile Program, which Dr. Wright wrote in 2003.
