Third Assessment Report Slides: Descriptions and Downloads

There are five separate PowerPoint files. Each one needs to be downloaded individually. They are:

  1. Introduction to Climate Change Science
Slides in this section cover: the greenhouse effect, how human activity is enhancing this effect by adding more -heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere, the historical record and recent trends in CO2 concentration and temperature, brief overview of projected changes (from the TAR) in CO2 concentration, temperature, precipitation and sea level rise, how scientists make these projections (global climate models, or GCMs), and a brief introduction to climate change impacts.

  2. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)Slides in this section cover: the IPCC process and history, summary of main findings from the First and Second Assessment Reports, and emissions scenarios.

  3. IPCC Third Assessment Report—Findings from Working Group I
Slides in this section cover key findings from WG I on the science of climate change.

  4. IPCC Third Assessment Report—Findings from Working Group II
Slides in this section cover key findings from WG II on the potential impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability of human and natural systems to climate change.

  5. IPCC Third Assessment Report—Findings from Working Group III
Slides in this section cover key findings from WG III on options for limiting heat-trapping emissions and other types of mitigation, as well as economic issues.
