SURFACE WATER
Lakes, rivers, and streams are the aboveground sources of fresh water for residential, recreational, industrial, and agricultural uses. Water quality is threatened when contaminants--such as sewage, oil, chemicals, fertilizers, and hazardous chemicals--enter the surface water.
