ACTING ON THE CHALLENGE
Climate change presents us with a great challenge. If carbon dioxide (CO2) and other emissions from power plants, vehicles, and industrial processes are not reduced, the heat-trapping “blanket” surrounding the Earth will continue to thicken, significantly, and in many ways negatively, affecting our quality of life. But heat-trapping gases CAN be reduced. This feature displays examples of actions we can take today to prevent the worst climate change impacts from happening and to minimize the impacts we can no longer avoid. Many of these actions have additional benefits for society as well. Please explore these items by clicking on the city map. Each “hotspot” will introduce a particular solution as well as discuss three key strategies related to that solution.
