VEHICLE DESIGN
The transportation sector is responsible for roughly one-third of total heat-trapping gas emissions; the majority of these emissions come from passenger cars and light trucks (this includes minivans, SUVs, and pick-ups). Several approaches are available today to reduce emissions through better vehicle design and new fuels.

Solution strategies: VEHICLE FUEL EFFICIENCY ADVANCED VEHICLES LOW-CARBON FUELS

Advanced vehicles use new technologies to deliver breakthrough gains in efficiency and lower heat-trapping gas emissions. Hybrid vehicles, which combine electric motors and a traditional engine, are already on sale today. Fuel cells running on hydrogen fuel promise even greater emissions reductions down the road.
