Tragedy of the commons revisited
In a thought provoking exchange in the March 2005 issue of Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment, Sarah Reichard of the University of Washington, calls on industry and the environmental community to work together to "begin developing and implementing a more restrictive regulatory framework along with voluntary efforts" to prevent the introduction of new pest species. Other experts including, Don Schmitz and Dan Simberloff; Darrel Morrison; Polly Lehtonen; UCS's Phyllis Windle and Gabriela Chavarria; and R. Wayne Mezitt, wrote responses.
