Clean Vehicles-BiofuelsProfile
As an analyst in the Washington office of the UCS Clean Vehicles Program, Jeremy Martin evaluates the impact of biofuels and fuel policy on global warming pollution and oil dependence.
Before coming to UCS Dr. Martin worked in research, development and manufacturing of computer chips at Advanced Micro Devices. He helped develop and integrate a new type of material to make chips run faster and use less energy, and in the process worked in California, Texas, New York, Singapore and Taiwan.
Dr. Martin has a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a minor in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a bachelors degree in Chemistry and English Literature from Haverford College. At Caltech his research focused on polymers. Unraveling the cellulose polymers to make sugar is the biggest challenge of cellulosic ethanol, and Dr. Martin is excited about the new science in this area.
Dr. Martin lives in Maryland with his wife, two small children and dog. In his free time, he likes to cook and spend time outdoors with his family.
