Liz Martin Perera is the senior Washington representative for Climate Change Policy at the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS).  She is a public health expert and works on the nexus between climate change and public health. 

Ms. Perera is lead author in the report Climate Change and Your Health: Rising Temperatures, Worsening Ozone Pollution and continues to write reports for UCS’s Climate Change and Your Health series. She also works on climate and energy policy issues and shares UCS findings with policy makers. Ms. Perera has extensive analytical expertise on modeling the impacts of climate change and energy policy.

Prior to joining UCS, Ms. Perera worked for the Natural Resources Defense Council’s Climate Center, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Yale University on climate and energy issues. As a consultant for the EPA she conducted risk assessments and cost-benefit analyses around EPA rule-making.

Ms. Perera holds a masters of environmental management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a masters of public health from Hunter College, the City University of New York School of Public Health.  

She has been cited by the Washington Post, Reuters, Roll Call, The News Journal, and the Charleston Gazette.
