Tim Donaghy is an analyst with UCS' Scientific Integrity Program. His work centers on investigating and documenting political interference in the work of federal government scientists. He has looked into interference at a number of agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration, NASA, and the Environmental Protection Agency. He also crafts recommendations—pertaining to whistleblower protections, communication of federal science, and regulatory reform—for the administration and Congress.
He received a B.S. in physics from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Chicago, where his thesis dealt with observations and theoretical modeling of a type of exploding star known as gamma-ray bursts.
Dr. Donaghy has been quoted by the Associated Press, Reuters, Science, Nature, New Scientist, and appeared on ABC's eco-lifestyle television program Focus Earth.
