Scientists to Testify before Congress on Climate Science Tomorrow

Scientists will testify Thursday before the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming to explain the fundamentals of climate science and set the record straight on misinformation about the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and emails stolen from climate scientists last fall.

The hearing will be streamed live online.

James McCarthy, professor of biological oceanography at Harvard University, board chairman at the Union of Concerned Scientists and former president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, will speak about fundamental climate science, sea level rise, ocean acidification and other ocean-related topics. McCarthy is a former IPCC co-chair. His testimony will be available online at the start of the hearing.

The minority witness will be Lord Christopher Monckton, a non-scientist critic of the IPCC who has a track record of making false claims about his own credentials, climate science and climate policy.
