Making the Case for a National Food Policy

The US food system is broken—and a tangled mess of government policies, which subsidize unhealthy processed foods and unsustainable farming methods, is largely responsible. It's time to overhaul this outdated system and replace it with a coherent plan, driven by the goal of making sure every American has access to healthy, affordable, sustainably produced food that is fair to food workers and ensures that farmers can keep farming. 

UCS is producing a series of new analyses illuminating the broad range of food-related problems—from struggling rural economies to racial and economic disparities in diabetes rates—that a national food policy could help solve.
