Life Insurance

A life insurance policy may include UCS as a beneficiary, whereby proceeds from the policy will be paid to UCS upon the death of the insured. Or, you may name UCS both owner and beneficiary of the insurance policy, in which case you may take a current tax deduction based on the "interpolated terminal reserve value of the policy" (as calculated by the insurance company).

If you make gifts to UCS in the amount of the policy's premiums, you can take a charitable income tax deduction provided UCS is not obligated to use the payments to cover the policy's premium.
