Jonna Hamilton

Director of Policy, Clean Transportation

Jonna Hamilton is the Director of Policy in the Clean Transportation Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS).  In that role, she leads interactions with Congress, executive branch agencies, and the White House on topics pertaining to fuel efficient cars, electric vehicles, and fuels policy.  She also leads NGO coalitions in their joint campaigns to secure strong fuel economy and greenhouse gas emission standards for passenger cars and heavy-duty trucks. 

Prior to joining UCS, Jonna was the VP of Policy at Securing America’s Future Energy, a non-profit dedicated to reducing U.S. oil dependence, where she specialized in transportation policy.  She also spent a year at the National Academies of Science leading studies on reducing oil use and GHG emissions from transportation and solid state lighting. Jonna spent four years on Capitol Hill, working as energy and environment staff for Senator Dorgan (ND) and as a Science and Technology Fellow in the office of Senator Durbin (IL).  

Jonna holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eckerd College, a Master of Science degree in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and Ph.D. in Biology from Brown University.
