Video: UCS Federal Scientists Survey 2022

Published Sep 7, 2022

Since 2005, the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) has conducted anonymized surveys of federal scientists at science-based agencies every 3-4 years, with the last one administered in 2018.

These surveys help assess how federal scientists experience workplace issues related to political interference, whistleblower protections, scientific integrity, morale, capacity, and the like. Our 2022 survey will be surveying thousands of scientists from seven science-based agencies. Through this survey, we are hoping to better assess how agencies are incorporating scientific integrity protections into their workplaces and recommend ways that agencies can improve upon their scientific processes to be more robust and equitable.
